In the context of the study of the areas affected by hydraulic risk and subject to the regulations of the Hydrogeological Setting Plan (PAI), the municipality of Sesto San Giovanni, after a call of tenders, appointed Mr. Ramon Galindo Pacheco to deal with the hydraulic analysis considering the flood discharge having a return period of 200 years flowing along the Lambro river within the municipality's territory.

The hydrodynamic analysis has been performed using the code Balilisk 2D, adopting the cartographic base and detailed DTM of the municipality. The mathematical model was calibrated on the basis of 2002 flood event which interested both Sesto San Giovanni and Cologno Monzese's municipality. The results of the present study have been used to subdivide the territory in different areas related to hydraulic risk.

Moreover, mitigation structures on Lambro left bank have been proposed and evaluated at a pre-feasibility level. Basilisk 2D code was developed by Eng. Pacheco during his collaboration with ex Enel-CRIS of Milano in the middle ninety years.
